Welcome to Ogden AYSO
Every year our volunteers are asked similar question so we wanted to publish the commonly asked question, What should I expect over the summer?
1. When is soccer going to start and what do I do now that I have registered my child for next season?
A: Ogden Soccer season is approximately 16+ weeks of quality soccer. The first half of the season starts every year in Fall toward the end of August and runs into October. The second half of the season is played in the Spring starting in April and ending in May.
2. Why do I have to register in May for Fall Soccer?
A: Simply because it takes hundreds of volunteer hours to form teams, train coaches, train referees and order near 1000 uniforms.
3. Why does registration close in July instead of the day before the first games?
A: Starting in February each year volunteer board members, directors and division coordinators begin to plan the next season of soccer to make sure Everyone Plays. Once the season ends it will take the summer to prepare and process registrations for each player. Additionally because we hold the highest standards for volunteers we need the time to make sure background checks are complete, CDC concussion trainings is completed, Safe Haven is complete and volunteers have time to attend trainings to be better leaders for our Ogden area youth.
4. Are we on different teams in the Fall and Spring?
A: No, Teams are the same from Fall to Spring and Coaches set practice times for your team.
5. When should I hear from my child’s coach?
A: That is entirely up to the coach. Coaches volunteer because they care and normally have a child on the team they are coaching. Because they are volunteers it is up to them to decide when to contact you and schedule practice. We ask all coaches to contact teams as soon as they receive their rosters.
6. I haven’t heard from our coach, what do I do?
7. I forgot to register or I just moved to town and Registration is closed, can I still sign up?
A: Possibly. We anticipated a certain amount of transfers or late registration but only have a limited amount of uniforms ordered and slots on a team. We will do our best but urge you to register when it is open to avoid the additional cost associated ordering uniforms. We also are respectful of our volunteer’s time and late registration can contribute to volunteer fatigue and unnecessary use of time. Help us help you and register on time. July 10 registration is closed.
